Black Canary Costume Breakdown

This is my Black Canary cosplay from Otakon 2012, and this is the picture where I'm going to tell you guys how I made the cosplay!

First I'm going to tell you guys how I made the bodysuit. I actually bought a bodysuit from the local Macy's and altered the CRAP out of it. Originally it had a skirt and some sleeves. The weirdest thing that I ended up having to do for it was alter it so I could wear it backwards, so I could get the proper "above the hip" cut that Black Canary is known for. I basically cut off the skirt and sleeves and cut the sweetheart neckline out of the top part. After I VERY CAREFULLY measured myself, I put in extra elastic and stabilizers so I wouldn't fall out of the top. After I sewed that stuff back in, I re-hemmed the whole thing.

As for the boots and jacket, I didn't make them lolz. I bought the boots at the local Shoe Dep. for like 80% off , and my friend Lisa kindly gave me her faux leather jacket to use

The hair is my natural hair. The reason it is a dirty blonde is because I had it darker for the wedding a month prior to Otakon, and I didn't feel like dying it lighter for one weekend.

For my make-up I went for a REALLY dramatic/glamorous look for the eyes and lips. I used really dark greys with a lot of shimmer for the eyes to give that "smokey" look, and I chose to go with a bold red/mauve lipstick to add to the look.

Another thing, I do have Black Canary gloves, but I left them at the wrong house, so I didn't have them for the con No one really seemed to notice though
