Hello everyone! I've been super busy since January getting all of my February costumes ready for the cons I'm guesting at this month as well as a commission or two. I just got back from Star City Anime, which was a first year anime and Japanese Culture con in Roanoke, VA. It was fantastic! I couldn't have hoped for a better guesting experience! The staff were so helpful and nice, the attendees were super nice and really respectful, and the other guests were very nice to me as well! Basically, we all had a great time, and the turn out was way better than any of us could have hoped! I really look forward to working with the convention group again at a future con :) I also got to help judge their masquerade, and that was a totally new experience for me! The contestants were all great, and I was so happy to be able to give out our Best in Show award to a cosplay friend of mine; she totally deserved it, and I can't wait to cosplay with her again :) Anyways, something that did irk me a lot about the contest was that a lot of the people who entered didn't actually make their costumes. I understand that since shows like Heroes of Cosplay, that people think that anyone can enter into a masquerade and win an award, but that's really not the case. If you didn't make your costume, I really don't feel you have a right to enter into a masquerade for an actual award. All of the costume contests I have entered into, the contestant needed to make at least 80% of their costume, which I'd say at least 65% of the contestants didn't do at this con. Now, if you want to do a walk on stage in a store bought costume, that's fine, but you shouldn't be entering into a craftsmanship based competition when you didn't do any of the crafting yourself, and yes, we can tell if you didn't make something yourself.

On to Mysticon! I'm super excited to be guesting at Mysticon February 27th-March 1st! I've wanted to go to Mysticon for a while now, and the fact that I was presented the opportunity to be a guest is amazing :) I have a lot of panels that I'm leading with the other cosplay guests and some other guests, and I'm even moderating a panel! I'm going to post my schedule at the end of this journal entry, for any of you who are attending and wish to see me :) Another thing that I'm doing is judging their masquerade! I'm going to be judging with several other professional costume and fashion designers, and I can't wait to see all of our contestants' lovely costumes :) I'm planning on wearing my Nightingale Armor, Pin Up Captain America, and Nisha from Borderlands the Pre Sequel during Mysticon. I think I'm going to retire my Nightingale Armor for a few months after Mysticon (unless I enter it into a contest). I've worn it quite a bit the past few months, and I want to add some diversity to the rest of my Spring lineup. I'm looking for photgoraphers for Mysticon, so if you photograph people, and are going, you should totally hit me up, since I have no photoshoots scheduled yet :D

I still have a lot of guest openings this year, and if you'd like to see me at an event near you, email the convention or event you'd like to see me at, so they know that I'm a desired guest.
